This is why I think the 1080p rendering might be broken. Here's Imperia's text:

Here's text from Sins of a Solar Empire:

Notice how it's easier to read the text from Sins? I'm thinking it's a combination of 1080p rendering being better, but also perhaps the background of the text?

It's not anything to do with 1080p, it's the fact that XNA renders fonts as sprites, and they don't scale well. It's a limitation of the engine.

Yeah, the thing that might be feasible is to double up the font sizes then scale by .5. I think remapping an entire font is a bit out of my skill set, unfortunately, and Nuclex does not have a Visual Basic .dll. So the options are limited. I might try a test in this .412 release, however, and seeing if anyone can tell the difference in some smaller fonts... :p

Now you have me curious... as a .NET developer who has dabbled in XNA, I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "Visual Basic .dll". If it's a .NET dll (or even an old school COM dll), I would expect it to work in all flavors of .NET development, whether you're choosing to write in VB, C#, or, heck, J# or F#, for that matter. :)

    Also, maybe a different background?

Well, I've had a devil of a time trying to get the Nuclex pipeline dll's registered. They register fine when I add them as a standard reference but when I try to add them as a content reference it won't load it, so I can't use it to convert the fonts. Still working on it. Any thoughts?
